Being in Rome for a few days was such an indulgence of a lifetime. And then having to cruise the Eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea for the next seven days was simply too much for the taking, more so because of the hefty weight gain than anything. Realizing that we’re just about half-way through our itinerary and we already managed to put on extra ten pounds each, we immediately subjected our stamina to a wad of sports activities offered in this luxurious ship to make an attempt to burn off those unwanted calories. Take note of the word “attempt”. Perhaps the consciousness came from being followed by the Royal Caribbean media crew day after day. It felt like our getting heavier was being documented. Hahaha! In fairness, we were asked nicely the minute we embarked the Navigator of the Seas to be included in their promotional videos as honeymooners and we agreed. But red carpet treatment can also mean papa-paparazzi!
Trip highlights: Black Madonna Church in Sicily, House of the Virgin Mary in Ephesus, Ruins of Ephesus (letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians), Acropolis of Athens, 2004 Olympic Sites in Greece and Windmills of Lasithi Plateau in Crete.
Words will never be able to describe how much great time we had in Europe. One thing is for sure, this is not our last time there. We loved the dreamy romantic element, the historical traditions and the renaissance feel to everything that we experienced. Once again, grazie a Dio!
